What Lengths People Will Go

I thought this was an interesting video posted on Youtube. Fantastic Delites set up one of their vending machines as a social experiment to see how far a person would go for a free item. The video observation is really quite interesting.

Fantastic Delites is a snack food company which takes the traditional Japanese snacks like rice crackers or noodles cups and jazzes them up a bit. Making traditional snacks tasty, this particular Fantastic Delites experiment features their gourmet flavored crinkle cut rice crackers. They kind of look like wavy Pringles.

As you can see with this video, people will do a lot of things for free food. I don’t know how the experiment would have gone down if it had been vending toilet paper or razors, but this is a clear example of what lengths people will go to for a free snack. Food is an incredible motivator.

If you’re in the vending machine business, food is the top commodity to vend. Vending machines have evolved to vend most anything: shampoo, train tokens, and even marijuana (probably exclusively in California). But you can’t go wrong with food, especially if you’re just getting into the vending machine business. Snack machines are an incredibly easy way to kick start your business.  Cheap to buy and easy to resell, food is the bread winner of the vending world.
